Unlocking Menopause mastery this January
January has always typically been a month to plan and set goals for the year ahead.
Often however our new regimes only seem to last for a few short weeks before we slip back into our old familiar patterns and habits.
This can be the case as well with how we manage our symptoms of the menopause. It’s easy to fall into the mindset of “Menopause Misery” when that is all we see and hear!
When are constantly bombarded with only the negative, such as a list of symptoms as long as your arm and the only experiences of women which are shared are the most severe of cases, it’s no wonder that many peri or menopausal women may not be looking forward to the year ahead.
But it doesn’t have to be that way
Would you think differently if you were told that 1in 4 will have NO symptoms of Menopause, or half of women will have mild to moderate symptoms?
Did you know in countries with a positive approach to ageing such as Scandinavia women typically report a smoother menopausal transition!
Our beliefs and expectations formulate our reality and it then becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Twenty years ago, my husband and I went on holiday to Egypt for 2 weeks. A few months before he started saying “I’m going to be ill” which he constantly continued to verbalise until the trip. He was ill for a total of 12 of the 14 days which as far as I’m concerned must be a record!
Don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to say for one minute that perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms are not real because trust me at one time or another I have experienced most of them.
I do however think there needs to be a balance in the conversation about Menopause, after all you may be one of the women who has no symptoms which must be lovely.
So, this January how about starting the year with a “Menopause Mastery” mindset that allows you to take control of your health whether that’s with HRT or not, but with a belief that you will eventually get through this phase of your life and live your post-menopausal years with purpose and passion.
So why not start this January with a survey of your symptoms so that you can monitor and track them, giving you the start of your control back. There are lots available on the internet.
Good luck x
